Our dance year is coming to an end; I hope that everyone has had a very wonderful year!  I look forward to teaching your children again next year!  Make sure you tell your friends about Mobile Bay Dance Academy!  I want to thank all of you for all of your help and support during wonderful year.  This letter is intended to prepare you for the upcoming events.  Fill out the 2008-2009 Early Registration Cards before June 1st, and save $5 on the $15 registration fee.  Summer Dance Camp will be held at St. Mary’s, July 21st through July 25th.  Come and bring your friends!!!  Fall classes will begin Monday, September 8, 2008.

 

Mandatory Rehearsal:

Saturday, May 31st

If your child is not present for rehearsal, they will not participate in recital.  All past due Tuition, May tuition, and any other fees are to be turned in no later than May 15.  Otherwise, your child will not participate in recital.  Rehearsal will be on Saturday, May 31st.  The dancers in the 1:00 recital will have rehearsal at 9:00 a.m.  Awards and announcements will start at 8:45 a.m.  The dancers in the 4:30 recital will have rehearsal at 11:30.  Announcements will start at 11:00 a.m. All students must be in leotards and tights and appropriate shoes!!! Ballet shoes, Tap shoes, Jazz shoes according to what your child takes…YOUR CHILD WILL NOT DANCE IF THEY DO NOT HAVE APPROPRIATE SHOES ON!!! NO COSTUMES ON REHEARSAL DAY!!!

DIRECTIONS TO St. Paul’s Monte L. Moorer Theatre.  (Turn onto Dogwood Lane from Old Shell Road going towards the campus. Theatre is on the right, park across the street from the theatre in the parking lot.) 

 

Anyone who would be interested in helping in Rehearsal and Recital, please let me know!  I need one at least one parent or teenager per class to help on Rehearsal day.  I asked that all other parents sit behind the numbered rows to watch rehearsal.  I need some backstage help on Recital Day to help get the students ready for their dances, and quick costume changes.

 

You are only allowed to video record rehearsal!

 

 

I asked that everyone find their dressing room on rehearsal day.  A picture of the student’s costumes will be placed on the dressing room door.  If your child has more than 3 costume changes, please see me!  Your Child’s Recital Numbers will be posted outside of the door of the theatre on rehearsal day.  I ask that after announcements, all students go and find their dressing room, and stay there during rehearsal.  Someone will come to get them, and get them lined up for their recital dances.  Each class will do each of their dances 1-2 times on rehearsal day, and then go back to the dressing room.  If they have performed all numbers, you may pick them up from their dressing room, and they can go home.

 

Recital programs will not go on sale on rehearsal day until after announcements are made.  If you ordered T-shirts and Shorts for your child to do the jazz dance, you must pick them up at rehearsal. 

 

All Hair Must Be Up For Rehearsal & Recital! 

Makeup Must Be Worn By All Dancers on Recital Day!

Pony Tails, Buns, Braids, Crowns.

 If your child’s hair is too short to pull up, please at least pull their hair half way up.

 

Recital: Sunday, June 1, 1:00 p.m.

Recital will begin at approximately 1:00 p.m.  THEATRE DOORS WILL OPEN FOR ADMITTANCE AT 12:00 p.m.  Recital seats are First Come First Serve.  All students should be in their dressing room at 12:30 p.m., dressed and ready for recital.

Absolutely No Flash Photography or Video Cameras at Recital!!! It is very distracting to the dancers, and the other members of the audience.  The Recital DVD is $38 to purchase.  All Checks are to be made out to Bea.  I have order forms available upon request.

 

Make sure that you have all of the correct color tights for your child, and try to layer them according to the dance number.  Make sure you have all of the pieces for your student’s costumes before recital. Tap Ribbons, Pink Tights, Tan Tights, etc…

 

Flowers and gifts for students are welcome at the recital, but should not be presented to the dancer backstage.  Please wait until your child is finished dancing and present the flowers or gifts in the audience or some other time. 

 

Any dancers coming to recital in their dance costumes need to have a cover up (one of daddy’s shirts). Absolutely No Costumes in the Audience at Any Time!!! MBDA T-shirts and MBDA pants are not considered costume, but will be worn in the last dance for our big jazz number.
